To race sidecars in New Zealand, Motorcycle New Zealand (MNZ) the national regulatory body for motorcycle racing in New Zealand, requires competetors to belong to an affiliated club.

NZSRA is the official representative for sidecar road racing in New Zealand and is an affiliated club of MNZ.  By becoming a finacial member of NZSRA you will:

  • help the club to promote, protect and actively advocate for our sport at local, national and international levels,
  • be connected to other members and enthusiasts by receiving membership contact details,
  • receive technical support for racing,
  • receive regualr newletters, and
  • be able to support and be supported by annual events such as the fabulous "Have A GO DAY"; the day when everyone has an opportunity to experience the thrill of sidecar racing.

  • Club President: Michael (Burt) Wolland.

Burt has been involved with NZSRA since 1984.  Upon leaving school, Burt began an apprenticeship with Ross Gregory who raced and built sidecars. Thus began his love of building and racing sidecars. Over the years Burt has helped to build several Ross Gregory sidecars and about five or six with Spike Taylor as well as being a strong competitor on the race track.

Burt has been the Club Vice President over the past couple of years and has now agreed to take this key leadership role to continue to promote and protect sidecar racing in New Zealand.
  • Club Vice President: Chris Lawrance.
Chris has been the club president for the last four years and has worked tirelessly to promote sidecar racing in New Zealand.  This year Chris has handed over the reigns of club president to Burt but will continue to support the organisation in the vice president role.

Chris started racing in 1987. He has raced in Australia, Germany, France, England and the Isle of Mann TT races.  His favourite meeting in New Zealand is the Wanganui boxing day meet but Chris says nothing can beat the Isle of Mann TT races.
